" Liberty" is a universal political symbol of freedom, bravery, persistence, and leadership. She also embodies hope and opportunity. Artist & Sculptor Frederic Bartholdi and the people of France gave the Statue to the people of the United States in recognition of the friendship established during the American Revolution. On October 28th 1886, the dedication of the Statue of Liberty took place in front of thousands of Americans. Over the years, the Statue of Liberty's symbolism has grown to an iconic living symbol of freedom and Justice to millions of people and artist throughout the world.
