"I've retired from my business," he said. "I'm 84 years old. I wandered, I bought a lot of additional land, beautiful land around the river. I just go around watching all thedeer and all the turkey."

Tyler Whig President William Henry Harrison's running mate in the election in 1840which gave birth to one of the most famous campaign slogan in American history,"Tippecanoe and Tyler too." On day-32 in the office, Harrison died of complicationsfrom pneumonia. Tyler was the first vice president who became president because of the death of his predecessor, serving 1841-1845.

John Tyler also has the distinction of being the first president to marry while in office - after his first wife died in 1842, Tyler married Julia Gardiner, which is 30years younger than him, in 1844
